Fernando is a visionary in the travel industry and co-founder of F1S, which he established with his sister, Erika Reategui, in 1991. As a dynamic and driven leader, Fernando has played a pivotal role in transforming the company into a successful international enterprise. As CEO, he excels in strategic thinking, forging relationships with key global partners, and overseeing all aspects of the company, positioning F1S as a trailblazer in creativity and service excellence.
Travel is woven into the fabric of Fernando’s life. Born into a family passionate about exploration, his mother led one of New York's first woman-owned travel agencies, instilling in him a love for diverse cultures, people, and cuisines from an early age. Although he initially envisioned a career in architecture or engineering while pursuing his college studies, a conversation with Erika about launching First in Service changed his course forever. Today, he embodies the “left brain” of their sibling partnership, characterized by his unwavering optimism—his motto being, “The glass is always ¾ full”—and his belief in the transformative power of passion. As a charismatic leader, Fernando thrives on making connections and guiding F1S with a bold and innovative approach.
For Fernando, travel is not merely a career; it’s a cherished family tradition. Together with his wife, Awilda, a key member of the F1S leadership team, and their daughter, Sofia, a budding globetrotter herself, he has explored countless countries and cities worldwide. Among his most treasured travel experiences is a trip to Israel, a destination he believes everyone should have the opportunity to visit at least once in their lifetime.
